Here's a poem to start you off.
I wrote this one a long time ago. It's a bit simple I know, I was 14 years old
then. Still, I like poems like this with a humorous/romantic flavor.
WHEN LOVE IS MEASURED
I love you, dear, I love you
as much as the sun is bright,
as true as the world is reality
and as much as God's heavenly light.
I love you, yes, I love you
your love fills my heart, it's true,
as high as the edge of the universe
and as much as the sea is blue.
I love you, it's true, I love you
compare it to the eternal days,
as much as you could care to think
in so many different ways.
I'll love you, dear, I'll love you
until bulls shop in the street,
until the Nile goes on holiday
and my heart starts playing a beat.
I'll love you, yet, I'll love you
even if the sun is switched off,
or the trees start growing money
or the mountains sleep in a trough.
I'll love you, still, I'll love you
until the moon needs fixing with glue;
and if the deserts go for a swim in the sea
then I will stop loving you.
