Website Principles and Objectives
What follows is a summary of the reasons why this site was set up. To be absolutely honest, I really don't know what the point is to this list; I just felt like it would add something to the site. Instrumental to achieving these objectives is a list of principles that I try to adhere to throughout the site, and which any other site maintainer should too. Read on, if you will.
The objectives of Power & Passion:
- Have fun!
- Establish a presence for myself on the Internet; somewhere to let it all out and make myself heard.
- Communicate and share ideas and information in academic and scientific fields of study.
- Provide an place online for groups and communities that I am a part of to keep contacts, resources and other useful information.
- Give my memories, photos, artwork, poetry, etc. a nice place to live.
- Advocate what I believe in.
- Pay back to the Internet community, by providing to others the same help other people's pages have given me.
- Gain experience in using HTML, JavaScript, CGI/Perl, etc. and in maintaining web sites.
- Show off my skills at designing/authoring web pages; an instant demo!
- Set an example of how well designed web pages should be (in my opinion of course).
- Possibly make a little cash.
The principles upon which Power & Passion is built:
- Good design, polished graphics and ease of navigation.
- Accurate and complete content.
- Speed, as far as the server will go, unhindered by too much graphics or unoptimized code.
- Correct use of the features of HTML and CGI where suitable without ruining the design.
